چکیده

Existence of a weak solution for the problem of dynamic frictional contact between a viscoelastic body and a rigid foundation is established. Contact is modelled with the Signorini condition. Friction is described by a slip rate dependent friction coefficient and a nonlocal and regularized contact stress. The existence in the case of a friction coefficient that is a graph, which describes the jump from static to dynamic friction, is established, too. The proofs employ the theory of set-valued pseudomonotone operators applied to approximate problems and a priori estimates.

Dynamic Contact Problems with Slip-dependent Friction in Viscoelasticity

The dynamic evolution with frictional contact of a viscoelastic body is considered. The assumptions on the functions used in modelling the contact are broad enough to include both the normal compliance and the Tresca models. The friction law uses a friction coefficient which is a non-monotone function of the slip. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are proved in the general three-dime...

Effects of thermal diffusion and chemical reaction on MHD transient free convection flow past a porous vertical plate with radiation, temperature gradient dependent heat source in slip flow regime

An analytical investigation is conducted to study the unsteady free convection heat and mass transfer flow through a non-homogeneous porous medium with variable permeability bounded by an infinite porous vertical plate in slip flow regime while taking into account the thermal radiation, chemical reaction, the Soret number, and temperature gradient dependent heat source. The flow is considered u...

Dynamic Friction Models for Road/Tire Longitudinal Interaction

In this paper we derive a new dynamic friction force model for the longitudinal road/tire interaction for wheeled ground vehicles. The model is based on a dynamic friction model developed previously for contact-point friction problems, called the LuGre model [7]. By assuming a contact patch between the tire and the ground we develop a partial differential equation for the distribution of the fr...

Static Tire/Road Stick–Slip Interactions: Analysis and Experiments

Tire/road interactions play a critical role in safe operation of ground vehicles. This paper presents the modeling, analysis, and experimental studies of stick–slip interactions between the stationary tire and the firm road. A semi-analytical model is first proposed to predict the normal force distribution on the tire contact patch. A beam–spring network modeling approach is then used to captur...

On the dynamic contact angle in simulation of impinging droplets with sharp interface methods

Effects of dynamic contact angle models on the flow dynamics of an impinging droplet in sharp interface simulations are presented in this article. In the considered finite element scheme, the free surface is tracked using the arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian approach. The contact angle is incorporated into the model by replacing the curvature with the Laplace–Beltrami operator and integration by p...
